Time zone and daylight saving checker

London is usually 5 hours ahead of New York. The gap is different from now to 1 November 2026 (4 hours ahead) and from 14 March 2027 to 27 March 2027 (4 hours ahead), because the two change their clocks on different dates. So a 15:00 meeting in New York is at 19:00 in London in those weeks, instead of the usual 20:00.

Why booking pages get this wrong

The US and Europe change their clocks on different weekends, so for a few weeks each spring and autumn the gap between them is an hour shorter. A booking page that stored your availability as a fixed offset, or an invite sent with a fixed offset, shows the wrong time in exactly those weeks. Places without daylight saving shift against everyone who has it. The guide Why does my booking page show the wrong time zone? covers the settings to check in each tool.

Questions about time zones and daylight saving

When do the clocks change in New York and London?

New York: 1 November 2026 (clocks go back 1 hour), 14 March 2027 (clocks go forward 1 hour). London: 28 March 2027 (clocks go forward 1 hour).

What is the time difference between New York and London?

London is usually 5 hours ahead of New York. The gap is different from now to 1 November 2026 (4 hours ahead) and from 14 March 2027 to 27 March 2027 (4 hours ahead), because the two change their clocks on different dates.

Why does my booking show the wrong time after the clocks change?

Usually because a time zone was saved as a fixed offset ("UTC-5") instead of a place ("America/New_York"), so the booking page or the invite keeps the old offset when daylight saving starts or ends. Check that your booking page, your calendar and the invite all use a named time zone.

Which places do not change their clocks?

Of the pairs on this page, Phoenix, Mexico City and Kolkata keep the same time all year, so their gap to a place that does change moves twice a year.
